Welcome to our side hustle!
Hi there,
We are Fred and Jess from Sweden and we live in Sydney, Australia with our two kids. As expats, we wanted to have a little piece of Sweden with us to the other side of the world in our every day life. Since we couldn't find any Swedish products that we really liked, we decided to design our own.
Fred has designed all products, and I am his cheerleader and the marketing person. :)
How Gift shop Sweden works
We both work full time (Fred is a UX designer, and I am client lead at a media agency) and we manage Gift Shop Sweden as a side hustle in our sparetime. We collaborate with a 'print on demand service' called Redbubble. This means that we don't have a warehouse with stock and no products exist until someone order it from our website. When an order comes in, the factory will receive the order confirmation. The factory will print the product, t-shirt as en example, with the right print, on the right size t-shirt and the right colour. The factory will ship the product straight to the sender.
Unfortunately, we don't have any control over shipping cost and delivery time. Everything is managed by Redbubble. Redbubble has factories in Europe, the U.S and Australia, which means that you won't be charged for customs fee.
We have done lots of research and we've made the decision that Redbubble was the best partner for us. (We actually started with another print on demand service where we had to cancel the partnership due to extremely expensive shipping costs and too long delivery time)
We truly hope this gives you an understanding of our little project. One day, if this turns out to become a success, we are hoping to have our own warehouse. But until then, we will continue to collaborate with Redbubble as our print on demand partner.
